It’s Like Rain On Your Wedding Day

They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. I’m not exactly sure who decided this, but after a wedding we were a part of a few weeks ago, I absolutely believe it. Culpepper Designs helped one of the sweetest couples plan and design their wedding from start to finish, which was set for the end of June. Lauren, the beautiful bride, grew up playing golf with her dad at the Thornblade golf course, and had always dreamed of getting married on the course greens, and we were determined to make this happen for her. After working out a few small details (like making sure a golf ball didn’t come careening toward the wedding party during the ceremony), we were all set to have their nuptials on the 13th green! A beautiful arch filled with whites and greenery, stunning landscapes and bright tangerine bridesmaids dresses were to come together to create the most outstanding summer wedding.

Fast forward to the day of and a pretty fierce hurricane was blowing through the upstate. We watched the weather radar all day long and Lauren finally decided she wanted to go for it with our original plans. The storm should have blown through by five o’clock according to the reports and the wedding was set for six o’clock, so surely we’d be fine. Right? Long story short, that storm decided to park itself right above Greer and with no other option, the wedding was going to happen outside, rain or shine.

And happen it did! The groomsmen, wearing light grey suits, and the bridesmaids, in that vivacious tangerine orange, marched themselves right down the aisle and were met with cheers and shouts as if it were a college football game entrance, which was so fitting considering the bride and groom basically live for Clemson football games. The cheers got even louder when Lauren and her dad, holding a Masters golf umbrella (appropriately), descended down to her husband-to-be. It was unreal! What could’ve been a total disaster ended up being one of the most unforgettable and fun ceremonies in our history. The rain would not keep us down!

It’s always a gamble to have an outdoor ceremony, but many times even the most unusual circumstances turn out to be the most memorable. This wedding was definitely a testament to that, and it turned me into a believer that rain on your wedding day must be the luckiest charm.

Cheers to the new Chip and Lauren Grant! We wish you many many years of health and happiness, rain or shine!
